1 Week on BBV

Its been one week since I started supplementing with body by vi shakes and I am pretty happy with the results so far!  4 pounds down in one week.  Not too shabby for a girl who has yet to get to the gym...  I swear it's happening tonight, haha.  I feel like I have to give you a reason and this mornings was laundry.

You see, for the last two months I've been running around with my head cut off.  Constantly running to and from, hardly being home.  Things have piled up.  Things that used to be important to me.  Things like laundry, dishes, vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing things till they shine.  In the last two months I've thrown 2 baby showers, a birthday party, helped plan and participate in a wedding, dealt with school stuff, and gotten sick with strep throat.  I had a mini meltdown in there somewhere as well.  I felt so overwhelmed I wanted to leave my life and go stay in a hotel for 3 days or until I felt better.  It passed.  I stayed, lol.  It was because of all this that I decided to fully change my life.  I'm tired of running around sacrificing my self care to people, even though I love them dearly.  It's time for me to love myself.  Working out is a huge part of loving myself, and I absolutely cannot wait to get into a good routine at the gym.  Anyways, this morning I woke up plenty early to go to the gym.   BUT I had no clean clothes and the house really needed some attention.  So I had a couple cups of coffee and cleaned my house.  I'm sure I burned a few calories and used a few muscles.

Brannon is making me go to the gym tonight.  So I will be going.  You know, because I actually have clean clothes to wear.

Almost a week in!

Almost a whole week on my shakes and things are going great!  I’m loving the taste of them… Seriously, I crave my shakes.  Remember, I’m not selling these shakes, Visalus is not paying me to write what I’m writing.  I’m not even buying them directly from Visalus yet.  I purchased mine on Amazon.  No use paying full price for something I wasn’t even sure I would like.  I seriously love these shakes and the way they make me feel.  I recently switched from 2% milk to Almond milk for the calorie reduction and OMG… I love Almond milk.  It makes the shakes taste even more like cake!  Today I had my shake mix plus the orange defense add in and it tasted like one of those orange loaf cakes from Wal-Mart.  I ate like a hungry baby, I think I was even making noises like one haha!

I have lost nearly 5# since I started these shakes.  This weekend was rough because I developed strep throat and had a fever most of the weekend.  I really wanted to get into the gym but it just didn’t happen.  I’ve been on antibiotics for 3 days and I’m feeling much better… I’m planning on swinging by the gym and completing my registration, getting my key card and working out for a bit.   I’m going to start off easy tonight because I’m going to start my morning gym routine tomorrow first thing.

Feeling good so far, I’m trying not to get too ahead of myself on seeing progress.  This isn’t a race, this is my life!!  Took more than a day to put on, and it’s going to take more than a day to come off!!

Day 4 & Weigh Day!

It's my first official weigh day!  I've only been on the challenge for 4 days, I haven't been to the gym yet.  I was supposed to make my return yesterday but life got in the way!  I didn't wake up until 8:15am!  My phone was on silent, just so ya know, I'm supposed to be at work at 8!  If I didn't work out in the morning, I knew I wouldn't be able to yesterday evening, my husband picked me up after work and we road tripped to Tulsa for a concert.  We didn't get home until 2am, so gym this morning was out.  I'm glad I made it to work on time though!

Okay, without further adieu my weight loss for this week is 2#!

Day 1: 251.2
Day 4- Friday Weigh day: 249.2!

Even though I'm very tired, I do believe I will hit the gym for a bit this evening!  Between myself and my friend Meredith at Discovering the New Me, I've got a pretty good Fit Bitch Mix to work out to! Also, I got my official BBV Shape kit in the mail with the flavor add ins... I LOVE IT!  I added the Strawberry Phyto Powder to my shake mix and it tastes like a strawberry cupcake!

I'm thrilled with my results thus far, and I know it's only going to get better!  I'm making healthy choices and doing this for me!!

Body By Vi Challenge: Day 1

"The time has come!" the Walrus said, "to talk of many things!  Of scales, and shakes, and plans to lose the weight, of all the possibilities!!"  (Yes, I do feel pretty darn creative.)

Today is Day 1 of my 90 Visalus Body by Vi Challenge!  Shake #1 is down the hatch!  I ordered a pack of 5 samples of the Vi-Shape mix and it came in the mail today, at work.  I don't have anything special here so I put the shake in my blender bottle with milk and shook it up, I also added some ice cubes to make it cold.  It was DELICIOUS!  It really does taste like cake mix/marshmallows!   Tomorrow I'm going to add instant coffee and blend it :) For this first week I will only be drinking one shake a day.

My starting weight of this challenge is 251.2#.  I'm going to take measurements tonight when I get home because I know those will be good to have.  I'm going to weigh everyday because that just how I do things but I'll have an official weigh in/total reveal each week on Fridays.  So this week will only be 3-4 days worth of challenge, but then weekly weigh ins will be 7 full days apart!  I will measure each week as well because I know numbers can be deceiving, especially when the scale isn't being nice!

I really feel the hugeness of how much my life is going to change...  I believe in this product to teach me, to nourish me, to help melt the fat fortress I've built around myself!  It's going to be awesome discovering the me underneath!

Ready, Set....

I have been diligently researching different recipes and work out plans to go along with my Body by Vi challenge.  I have even recruited the help of an amazing photographer to track my progress through pictures!  I am putting everything I have into this challenge and I am on fire with thinking about the results.  I'm waiting until August 1st to start because I love a clean slate, also I get paid once a month at the end of the month.  I was calculating the costs of the whole Body by Vi challenge and it seems like a lot of money, around $100/month, but when you calculate everything, and consider the fact that you are replacing two whole meals a day for a whole month, it seems like it costs more to eat poorly!  I can't afford NOT to change!  I'm terrified that my body will give out long before my spirit is ready to.  I know I can't keep going like this; and I know that I'm not going to!  I can feel how big this is going to be for my life!

I just keep imagining myself fighting for fitness, fighting for health.  I see myself with energy to burn, slimming down more and more each week that passes.  I know this is what my body needs, and I am thrilled thinking about actually becoming pregnant because of the progress I have made on my health.

My friend Meredith has a blog about her journey through Body by Vi, if you're interested in seeing and reading about her results follow her over at Discovering The New Me!

Body By Vi Challenge

I'm usually not into fad diets.  I usually stay away from anything I think is a gimmick.  I can't stay away from this, because I've seen it work.  One of my really close friends took a chance and tried the Body by Vi shakes and she has lost 55 pounds (once I talk to her, I will put a link to her blog)! She's done it very slowly and safely!  I found myself becoming more and more amazed by her and her progress and decided that I want it for myself!

I have done quite a bit of research about whether or not this system of losing weight is OK for people who have diabetes.  So far, so good.  I'll be able to control my carbs, and losing weight will make me need less medicine to control my blood sugar.

Last year we had our first consultation with a Reproductive Endocrinologist, I was filled with so much hope, but still received bad news that I wouldn't be able to pursue treatments until my blood sugars are in a normal healthy range.  I am very excited at the prospect of getting to see our RE by the end of the year.  If I can lose 30# in my 90 day challenge, I will see my PCP and get a referral to see our RE again!

At my heaviest I was 292#.  I'm currently between 255-260# (I'll have a more accurate number on my start date).  I will have had 90 days of beautiful blood sugar control and will be pretty excited to find out what my HA1C is!  At our appointment, the RE said he would like me to get my HA1C as close to a 7 as possible.  Challenge Accepted!

Challenge start date 8/1/2013
Challenge End Date 11/1/2013 (3 days before my 29th Birthday, holy moly)

I'm ready to get started on this challenge!  Here's to hoping Body by Vi gives me a Baby by Vi!!

The Start of the Battle

Lately I have just felt like shit.  I have not been taking care of myself really at all.  I have been eating however I want to, not even thinking about the consequences.  It’s very easy to do, because diabetes doesn’t feel bad all the time.  My body CRAVES sugar and fat like air.  It has taken its toll though, I am ready to stop this lifestyle and start the new, healthy lifestyle that my body needs to survive.  If I ever want to conceive, I’m going to have to get myself together and really allow my body to do what it needs to do.  I’ve said this so many times that I’m having a hard time believing that I can do it, but I’m determined.  I know if I keep going how I’m going I’ll die young, or worse, I’ll be the only reason my dreams of being a mother haven’t come true.

I can’t start out this journey like a scene from Rocky.  I can’t put in every ounce of my gusto just yet because I’m tired, and I know I can’t sustain that level of enthusiasm for very long… Been there, done that.  So I’m going into this journey with a whisper.

To battle my type 2 diabetes I was prescribed Metformin 2000mgs/day, and two different types of insulin long acting and fast acting.  What I’m going to do today, is take 1000mgs of Metformin.  I’m also going to give myself my long acting insulin because it too is once a day.  I’m going to do this for a week.  Next Friday I will be upping my dose to 2000mgs.  After a week of that I’ll start adding my fast acting insulin.  I’ve started a twitter account so I can post my blood sugar readings and anything else I care to share.  A link should be posted at the top left of the page under my about me section.

I’m going to have to dig up my meter, and I’m going to be scouring pinterest for recipes and the like.  Stay tuned!!
